The Sri Lanka Tea Board was established on 1st January 1976 by amalgamating Tea Control Department Tea Control Act No 51 of 1957, Tea Export Commissioner's Department-Tea (Tax and Control of Export)Act No 16 of 1959, Tea Research Institute of Ceylon-Tea Research Ordinance 1925 and Ceylon Tea Propaganda Board Tea Propaganda ordinance 1932 under the Sri Lanka Tea Board law No.14 of 1975 as amended by Act No.17 of 1985, No.44 of 1990, No.29 of 2003, No 44 of 2006 and No.13 of 2018 with the corporate objective of develop, regulate & promote Tea industry in Sri Lanka

As the regulatory body, Sri Lanka Tea Board is responsible for regulating the activities of tea Industry, viz. production, increase of cultivation, replanting rehabilitating old gardens, establishment of factories and monitoring their operations. The whole process has been monitored and evaluated from factory to the shipment to maintain the "Quality of Ceylon tea" and many actions have been initiated to intensifying the monitoring of quality standards of tea at the point of sale, pre-shipment, warehouses of brokers, blenders and exporters and providing advisory services on hygienic blending and storing.

The National Institute of Plantation Management is under the purview of Ministry of Plantations Industries which is the professional body of Government of Sri Lanka, established in 1979 by NIPM Act. No. 45 of 1979 with a focus to elevate professional and academic qualifications amongst plantation Management & Supervisory personalities in Industry.  The Institute is empowered to award certificates to those who successfully completed the educational courses. NIPM is the only chartered institute in the plantation industry which is empowered by the amendment of its Act No 5 of 1987 to award professional memberships to eligible Professionals in the industry.  The academic mainstream is available for management of Small Holder ventures with same criteria.  The wide opening is made available for young school leavers to join the NIPM and gain competency theoretically and practically on in-house training at Plantations and other related organizations.

Kalubowitiyana Tea Factory Ltd (KTFL) was incorporated under the Companies Act on 30th September 1992 as a public company fully owned by the government under the Ministry of Plantation.
It began its commercial operations as a CTC Tea Factory at Kalubowitiyana, Deniyaya Electorate, Sri Lanka on 01st August 1994. This CTC Tea Factory was built with the assistance of the Indian Line of Credit.
The company started the Derangala Tea Factory as its second tea factory producing Orthodox Teas in March 2000 and its third tea factory Hiniduma Hills producing Orthodox Tea in 2011, followed by 4th tea  factory producing Orthodox Tea in Kandy in 2015.
The Company has been operating on a self-financing basis since 1995 and producing approximately 1.5m kilos of teas per year and contributing to the GDP.

Tea Small Holdings Development Authority (TSHDA) was established on 1st February 1977, under the Tea Small Holdings Development Act No. 35 of 1975. Act No. 36 of 1991 to establish and register the Tea Small Holder Societies and Act No. 21 of 1997 to grant legal status to these societies have been subsequently legislated. Act No. 34 of 2003 adding amendments to the original act have been legislated.
As the sole statutory body mandated for the development of tea small holdings in the country, increase of production, marketing activities, improvement of productivity and working for the welfare of the tea small holders are the objects of the organization.

Chilaw Plantations Limited (CPL) is a limited liability Company incorporated and domiciled in Sri Lanka , under the Companies Act No. 17 of 1982 (re-registered under the Companies Act No. 7 of 2007) in terms of the provisions of the Conversion of Public Corporations or Government Owned Business Undertaking into Public Companies Act No. 23 of 1987. The Palmyrah Development Board (PDB) which originally came under the Ministry of Plantations was constituted by Gazette notification of 18 August 1978 published in terms of Amendment no 24 of 1975; to the Sri Lanka Coconut Development Act no 46 of 1971 to carry out all functions in relation to Palmyrah plantations. Subsequently, PDB came under the Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development by Gazette notification in 2010. Since 8th January 2015 Palmyrah Development Board assigned under the Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs.

Coconut Development Authority (CDA) is the Apex Government Organization established by an Act of Parliament of Sri Lanka to develop the Coconut Industry of Sri Lanka. Its functions include promotion of coconut products in international markets, quality control, developing new processing technologies etc. CDA also assists exporters/manufacturers of coconut based products by sponsoring them to showcase their products at international trade fairs/exhibitions and servicing them in many other ways to gain foothold in international markets. In keeping with the declared aim of the Government of Sri Lanka GOSL to make the country self-sufficient in sugar, a World Bank study was undertaken in 1978 to identify various areas in Monaragala District of Sri Lanka which would be suitable for rain-fed sugar cane cultivation.
We are developing of over 14,000 hectares of lands using for harvesting of Sugarcane. The cane production was also expected to be supplemented by supplies from Out growers who cultivate cane on privately owned land. Pelwatte and Sevanagala Sugar factories are administrating under the Lanka Sugar Company. The factories were designed for an initial quantity of 2800 tons and 1200 Tons per day respectively in Pelwatte and Sevanagala.
Thereafter, with time to time changes of the management, (private and government) various developerents had taken place and as to the Act no. 43 of 2011 this company is a fully government owned company Incorporated as the Lanka Sugar Company Private Limited on 24 August 2012.
Since then several managements was managed the company from January 2020 there had been many development works carried out in the company.
